Pope Hope: A Limerick

The liberal left holds out hope

That we’ll soon have a liberal pope.

The Pope’s abdication

Begets salivation;

But the answer’s gonna be “Nope!”

They hope for gay liberation,

And female-priest ordination.

They don’t seem to get

That Church doctrine is set,

And there won’t be a new proclamation.

The Pope is leaving bereft

A Church with a definite cleft.

It’s time to admit

That there is a split,

And get rid of the part on the left!
