It Must Be a Sign from God

But...a sign of what?!   [See "New Bishop of the Diocese of Baker"]

I have just been alerted to the fact that the scheduled March 8 announcement of the next bishop of Baker coincides with...wait for it...

..."the most intense solar flare seen this year..."

"The most intense solar flare seen this year is likely to herald a strong geomagnetic storm around Earth on March 8th and 9th 2012, as sunspot cluster AR1429 continues to blast coronal mass ejections (CMEs)."

It does not mention that the storm will be zooming in on Bend, Oregon, but surely it's obvious that all eyes will be turned in that direction come 10:30 tomorrow morning!

A Huffington Post article mentions that:

"A solar flare that erupted Tuesday and will likely hit Earth as soon as Thursday could prove to be a nuisance for communications and electrical systems.

"SPACE.com reports that the solar storm caused by this month's massive flare could interfere with satellites in orbit as well as power grids on Earth. What's more, MSNBC notes that some GPS systems could encounter problems as a result of the solar weather."

  1. More powerful than a lightning strike! We are either blessed or doomed. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Perthaps coincidently the Vatican Information Service website, where we might expect an announcement of the Pontiff's selection of our new Bishop sometime prior to the 1030 AM press conference, was disrupted by hackers today and is currently off line. These are, perhaps, signs :)

  2. I hope you get a holy bishop who loves the Extraordinary Form. Both for your sakes in Baker, and also for the sake of my diocese, where I hope such a bishop would exert some gravitational pull.
