"You aim at a devout life, dear Philothea, because as a Christian you know that such devotion is most acceptable to God's Divine Majesty," says St. Francis de Sales in his book "Introduction to the Devout Life".
And we can all be Philotheas, as St. Francis notes: "I have made use of a name suitable to all who seek the devout life, Philothea meaning one who loves God."

Vortex: A Ray of Hope at Fisher More College
Looks like a great college...Tradional Latin Mass daily!! The students interviewed in this Vortex episode are wonderfully well-spoken. Check it out:
I want to attend this college, but I have no financial support from either my family. I also do not make enough on my own to go there... I started up a fundraiser to cover the cost of tuition, but are there any other ways for a first-gen Catholic (parents not Catholic) to get a little help and support???
I have no financial support, so all costs come from out of my own wallet. My family does not support my going to a Catholic college either, so I can't ask them for help. Add to the fact that Fischer More College doesn't participate in government aid programs, and I feel like I'm up the river without a paddle!

ReplyDeleteSamantha, that is a very good question, to which I have no ready answer. Perhaps some others out there might have some good advice?

thanks for the advice, but which St. Thomas Aquinas College are you talking about? The one in CA or NY?
ReplyDeleteThe one in CA
ReplyDeleteSamantha, did you check the web site for Fisher More? There is a section for financial aid. Wouldn't hurt to check that out.

Thanks for all of the advice! I'll be sure to check out the Fisher More college's financial aid system.
