CMTV: Dolan and the Dolanites

Thank God for the courageous and honest analysis of Michael Voris and ChurchMilitant.TV. In this Special Report, Michael Voris takes Cardinal Dolan to task for multiple offenses against the Church and Our Lord, including the Cardinal's latest escapade of allowing abortion-supporting Vice-President to receive Holy Communion at a Mass where the Cardinal was presiding.

This report is not "bishop-bashing"; it is an act of charity. Our shepherds are held to higher accountability than we, the lay faithful.  It is time that some of them realize that their own actions are scandalous and perpetuate the crisis in the Church. Their own souls are at stake here. Pray for our bishops and priests.

Oh...in case you hadn't heard...Bishop Vasa has backed down on his requirement that teachers in Catholic schools in his diocese sign an affirmation of faith. Sigh.

Our Lady said to the children at Fatima: "Stop offending God, for He is already so much offended."

Prayer. Penance.

The report includes this quote from St. John Eudes:

"The most evident mark of God's anger, and the most terrible castigation He can inflict upon the world, is manifest when He permits His people to fall into the hands of a clergy who are more in name than in deed, priests who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than the charity and affection of devoted shepherds. They abandon the things of God to devote themselves to the things of the world and, in their saintly calling of holiness, they spend their time in profane and worldly pursuits. When God permits such things, it is a very positive proof that He is thoroughly angry with His people and is visiting His most dreadful wrath upon them."

More prayer. More penance.

May God have mercy on us.

  1. As lay members of the Church we have a moral responsibility to point out serious and obvious violations of Canon Law no matter who commits them. Dolan holds a position of great responsibility and yet seems more intent on being popular than doing the job of a shepard. Jovial and funny doesn't cut it when there are serious matters at stake.

    1. Please note that I am just asking this question, beacause I would like a specific reference:
Where specifically in Canon law or encyclical or other church document are we told that "we have a moral responsibility to point out serious and obvious violations of Canon Law" Thanks, Joseph

  2. I found this Voris episode about Dolan particularly depressing and sickening. I struggle between outrage and feeling guilty for thinking Cardinal Dolan is a buffoon. There, I've said it. A buffoon. And a scandal.

It's astonishing to me that there seemed to be more than a few catholics out there who were hoping DOLAN would be the next Pope! Who are these "catholics"? And what in the world is wrong with Cardinal Dolan? Can nothing be done? What will it take to correct him?

    1. In reality, it all boils down to the "not offending sinners because bishops need the Stewardship Appeal" syndrome that is prevalent. If Cardinal Dolan had refused Holy Communion to Biden, then groups of Catholic democrats in New York City would have threatened not to give to the Archdiocesan Fund. It is not about teaching Christ...it is about money. We do need reform even inside our own dioceses. Our local parishes are being bled dry by our chanceries and no one seems to care except the pastors who find they can not make ends meet because of the damnable assessments.

  3. Elizabeth, I know what you mean - I believe I too have used the word "buffoon" with regard to Cardinal Dolan, along with "embarrassment". I could not imagine that he would be the next Pope!

I don't know what it will take to correct Dolan, but the point is, he CAN be corrected. So it is important to speak up about the scandal he is creating, and I'm glad Michael Voris has the guts to do it.

    1. Dr. Boyd,

I know it would be lengthy, but could you provide a pdf transcript of this episode of The Vortex?

My wife asked me the other day why I wasn't in "favor" of Cdl. Dolan becoming pope. I couldn't put it in the right words other than "Well, there are some issues."

Way to go CMTV. You did it for me.

  4. Regarding Canon 915 - please see: "APOSTOLIC CONSTITUTION SACRAE DISCIPLINAE LEGES of the SUPREME PONTIFF POPE JOHN PAUL II for the PROMULGATION of the NEW CODE OF CANON LAW" on the Vatican web site. It contains the following sentence. "Finally, the canonical laws by their very nature must be observed."
    Note the word “MUST”.
Any Cardinal, Bishop or Priest who KNOWINGLY gives Holy Communion to a public heretic or schismatic - is being disobedient to the Magisterium. In addition they are aiding and abetting in Scandal and Sacrilege.
(In addition to Canon # 915, please see Code # 1399.)
Code of Canon Law is also published on the Vatican web site.

  7. The script for Michael Voris' excellent Dolanism and the Dolanites is now available on the Church Militant site, same page as the video. www.churchmilitant.tv

I was amazed reading these comments that so many of us are confessing having referred to Dolan with the same adjective.

  9. Cardinal Dolan's blog: http://blog.archny.org/

There appears to be an opportunity to provide comments to his entries; he has a piece about Holy Week.

  10. Wouldn't it be marvelous if Joe Biden repented and turned his back on his errors and proclaimed his support for life?

Pray for our leaders. Pray they are blessed. Pray for their conversion.
